Profile

CI A/Prof Ken Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore and obtained his Masters Degree from the Eastman Dental Institute in London.

He is currently Senior Consultant and Specialist in Prosthodontics at the Department of Restorative Dentistry of the National Dental Centre of Singapore (NDCS). 

Prof Tan concurrently holds the posts of Director, Clinical Governance and Quality Management and Chief Risk Officer at NDCS and Clinical Associate Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore where he is involved in prosthodontic post-graduate teaching. He is also the Director, Clinical Quality and Innovation for the Oral Health Academic Clinical Program with SingHealth – Duke NUS. His practice focuses mainly on fixed prosthodontics and implant dentistry and he has lectured and conducted courses locally and regionally in these areas.

Prof Tan was awarded a HMDP fellowship to the Department of Periodontology and Fixed Prosthodontics of the University of Berne in Switzerland where he was subsequently was conferred the Dr.Med.Dent qualification in 2005. He has numerous publications on fixed prosthodontics and outcomes of implant dentistry. 

Prof Tan is involved in developing guidelines for the practice of implant dentistry and standards for dental specialist assessment with the College of Dental Surgeons and the Ministry of Health of Singapore. He is also a member of the Dental Specialists Accreditation Committee and an assessor for the exit assessment for Prosthodontics with the College of Dental Surgeons Singapore tasked to oversee accreditation of Prosthodontists in Singapore.
